Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is my rental confirmed when I pay online?

No. Submitting payment or completing checkout means we received your rental request, not a confirmed rental. Every booking is reviewed before release. We verify your driver's license, insurance, tow vehicle, and rental details, then send an approval email with pickup or delivery instructions.

2. How long does approval take?

We typically respond within one business day — often the same day. If we need more information, we'll email or call you.

3. What information do you need to approve a rental?
  • Valid government-issued driver's license (minimum age 25)
  • Proof of auto liability insurance — minimum $100,000 / $300,000
  • Tow vehicle details (make, model, year, towing capacity, hitch type)
  • Valid payment method for rental charges and security deposit
  • Signed Master Trailer Rental Agreement
4. Can I book for someone else?

The person picking up the trailer must be the approved renter on the reservation, with a valid license and insurance in their name (or business name if applicable). The tow vehicle driver must match the approved renter unless we approve an authorized driver in writing.

5. Do I need a customer account to book online?

No. You can checkout as a guest. Creating an account is optional and may help you view order history and manage future rentals.

6. Can I modify my reservation dates after booking?

Contact us as soon as possible. Changes depend on trailer availability and timing. We will confirm any updated dates, pricing, or fees in writing before your rental begins.

7. What if my rental request is denied?

If we cannot approve your rental — for example, due to verification issues, unsafe towing setup, or availability — we will notify you by email or phone. Eligible rental amounts paid may be refunded according to our Refund, Cancellation, and Return Policy.

8. What is the minimum age to rent?

25 years old. You must present a valid, current driver's license at pickup.

9. Do I need my own insurance?

Yes. You must carry auto liability insurance with minimum coverage of $100,000 / $300,000. Contact your insurance provider before renting to confirm your policy covers towing a rented trailer. Edmond Rentals does not provide renter insurance.

10. What do I need for my tow vehicle?

Your vehicle must be legally registered, insured, and rated to tow the trailer plus your load. You need adequate towing capacity, proper hitch and ball, working trailer wiring, safety chains, adequate mirrors, and an electric brake controller when required.

11. What ball size do I need?

Ball size depends on the trailer coupler. Check the product page for your selected trailer or contact us before pickup. Common sizes are 2" and 2-5/16". Using the wrong ball size is unsafe and may void your rental.

12. Do I need an electric brake controller?

Many heavier trailers require a working electric brake controller in your tow vehicle. If your trailer has electric brakes, you must have a properly installed and functioning controller. Ask us before pickup if you are unsure.

13. How do I know if my vehicle can tow the trailer?

Check your owner's manual for towing capacity. Your vehicle must be rated for the trailer weight plus your cargo. When in doubt, contact us with your vehicle year, make, model, and intended load before booking.

14. Can businesses and contractors rent trailers?

Yes. Businesses, contractors, landscapers, and property owners may rent. The approved renter must sign the rental agreement and meet all insurance and licensing requirements. Business name and contact information should match checkout and insurance records.

15. Can I take the trailer out of New Jersey?

Local use within our approved service area is standard. Out-of-state or extended-distance use requires written permission from Edmond Rentals LLC before pickup. Unauthorized travel outside the approved area may violate your rental agreement.

16. Where do I pick up and return the trailer?

Wantage, NJ 07461 — pickup and return in Northwest New Jersey. Your exact address and directions are sent after your rental is approved.

17. What are your pickup and return hours?
  • Weekday pickup: 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM
  • Weekday return: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Weekends: By appointment
18. How do I schedule a weekend pickup or return?

Contact us when booking or after approval to arrange a weekend time. Weekend slots are by appointment only and subject to availability.

19. What should I bring to pickup?
  • Driver's license
  • Proof of insurance
  • Your tow vehicle (must match what you submitted)
  • Payment method for any remaining balance and security deposit
20. How should I return the trailer?

Return on time, at the agreed location, with all accessories included. The trailer should be reasonably clean — free of trash, excessive mud, debris, and leftover materials.

21. What happens if I return late?

Late returns may incur hourly or daily late fees per the Rental Agreement. Late returns can also affect the next customer's reservation. Contact us immediately if you expect to be late.

22. Can I extend my rental?

Extensions may be available if the trailer is not reserved for another customer. Contact us before your return time. Additional rental charges apply for approved extensions.

23. How much does it cost to rent a trailer?

Rates vary by trailer type and rental period. Current rates are shown on each trailer's product page. Typical options include daily, weekend, and weekly rates.

24. Is there a security deposit?

Yes. A $500 security deposit per trailer is required unless otherwise stated. It may be authorized at pickup and released after return inspection, minus valid charges.

25. When is my deposit refunded?

After the trailer is returned and inspected. Allow several business days for the refund to post, depending on your bank or card issuer.

26. Is sales tax included in the price?

New Jersey sales tax, if applicable, may be collected separately and is not always included in the quoted rental rate shown online.

27. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit and debit cards through our secure online checkout (Stripe). Cash on delivery is not recommended for production use. Payment method must be valid at pickup for deposit authorization.

28. Are there any hidden fees?

Rental fees, deposit, delivery (if selected), and applicable tax are shown at checkout. Additional charges may apply for late returns, damage, cleaning, missing items, failed delivery, or other items listed in your Rental Agreement — not hidden, but dependent on how the trailer is used and returned.

29. Do you offer delivery?

Yes, within approximately 40 miles of Wantage, NJ where offered. Delivery fee is typically $50 each way. Timing is confirmed after approval.

30. Do you pick up the trailer at return?

Pickup service at return may be available within our delivery area for an additional fee. Request this when booking or contact us before your return date.

31. What towns do you deliver to?

We serve Wantage, Sussex County, and surrounding areas in northern New Jersey, southern New York, and nearby Pennsylvania — generally within about 40 miles. Contact us with your address to confirm delivery availability.

32. What if delivery can't be completed?

We need a safe, legal, accessible location. If the site is blocked, unsafe, too steep, or inaccessible, delivery may be refused or rescheduled. Additional fees may apply for failed delivery or extra trips.

33. Am I responsible for damage to the trailer?

Yes. You are fully responsible from pickup until we accept the trailer back at return — including damage, theft, missing items, tire damage, wiring issues, and excessive cleaning. See our Rental Agreement.

34. What if I get a flat tire or have a breakdown?

Contact us immediately at 917-635-7441. Do not abandon the trailer. Do not authorize repairs without our permission except in a true emergency.

35. What should I do after an accident?

Ensure safety first, contact police if required, exchange information with other parties, notify your insurance company, and call Edmond Rentals immediately. Do not admit fault on our behalf. Cooperate with insurance and law enforcement.

36. What if the trailer is stolen?

Report the theft to police immediately and contact us at 917-635-7441. You remain responsible under the Rental Agreement. Do not attempt recovery on your own if unsafe.

37. What cleaning fees might apply?

Return the trailer reasonably clean. Fees may apply for trash, excessive mud, gravel, mulch, concrete, asphalt, oil, grease, manure, chemicals, strong odors, or materials left behind. Hose off heavy mud and remove all debris before return.

38. Do your trailers have GPS tracking?

Some trailers may contain GPS or other security devices for theft prevention and recovery. You may not remove, disable, or tamper with any tracking device.

39. What is your cancellation policy?

See our Refund, Cancellation, and Return Policy. Summary:

  • 48+ hours before pickup: Full refund of rental fees, minus non-refundable fees incurred
  • 24–48 hours: Partial refund (typically 50%)
  • Less than 24 hours: No rental fee refund
  • No-show: No refund
40. Can I cancel after my rental is approved?

Yes, but refund eligibility depends on how much notice you give before the scheduled pickup time. Contact us immediately. Delivery and processing fees may be non-refundable if work has already started.

41. Can I get a refund if I return early?

Generally, no. Rental periods are reserved in advance. Early returns do not automatically qualify for a refund unless we approve it in writing.

42. What if Edmond Rentals cancels due to weather?

We may cancel or reschedule due to severe weather, unsafe roads, or mechanical issues. If we cancel for reasons not caused by the customer, you may be eligible for a refund of eligible amounts paid or rescheduling at no extra charge.

43. What types of trailers do you rent?

Utility trailers, dump trailers, and tilt trailers for equipment, landscaping materials, construction debris, and general cargo. Browse our Shop page.

44. What is the weight limit for the trailer?

Each trailer has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and payload capacity listed on the product page and on the trailer itself. Never exceed the trailer rating, hitch rating, tire rating, or your vehicle's towing capacity.

45. Can I haul mulch, dirt, or gravel in a dump trailer?

Yes, if the trailer is a dump model and you stay within weight limits. Heavy materials add weight quickly — know your load weight before filling. Return dump trailers clean; leftover material may result in cleaning fees.

46. Are tie-down straps or chains required?

All cargo must be properly secured. Straps, chains, or binders may be required depending on your load. Some accessories may be available — check the product listing or ask us when booking.

47. Can passengers ride in or on the trailer?

No. Passengers may not ride in or on any trailer. Only the tow vehicle may carry passengers, subject to vehicle capacity and law.

48. Are straps, chains, or accessories included?

Included items vary by trailer. Check the product listing or ask when booking. Missing accessories at return may result in replacement charges.

49. Can I haul anything in the trailer?

No. Prohibited uses include hazardous materials (without written permission), illegal activity, exceeding weight limits, subleasing, unauthorized drivers, and use outside the approved area without permission. See our Terms and Conditions.
